Logo Design

Problem

I was in need of a new personal logo and branding so that I can establish myself as a designer and create my brand with continuity and personality.

Process

The first step of my process was to do some research on logos and brand boards that have already been made and to decide what I liked and what I didn’t like. Visual research from professional designers helped me understand the importance of crafting a good logo.

Sketches

Once I've done my visual research, I then went into my sketches. When drawing my sketches, I didn't think too much at first and I just let the ideas flow out of me as the pencil hit the paper. Some were very random and some meant something. Some had my initials and some didn't. Letting my ideas flow like that let me have many different kinds of potential logos that I could create variations from.

Solution

When looking at my sketches, I pulled out the ones that caught my eye the most and started to design them on Illustrator.

First Round of Logos:

Logo Rework:

After the first round of logos and the critique, I got feedback that the cheetah and the capital B with the cursive F would probably work best. I decided to rework both of these before another round of critiques.

Brand Board:

Ultimately, I decided to go with the cheetah because of its sleek nature and its symbolism of agility and quickness. I also decided to keep the color of the logo black and white.

Final Design

My new logo will be able to be used across different platforms and mediums that I will be using for my current brand identity. This will include my portfolio, business cards, thank you cards, social media, etc.
